In Out of Penumbra, the third book in Conner’s trilogy, he completes his journey out of ignorance into the full light of knowledge. In 1955 with GI Bill benefits, he enrolled at Oxford College of Emory University, where he was nurtured by caring professors in a small college setting. Within three years, he was accepted into the Emory University School of Medicine on a full scholarship, graduating with his medical degree in 1962.
